Chapter Four (which includes episodes 13-16) is kind of disappointing. Episode 13 is okay, episode 14 is good, but 15 and 16 are a drag, and I won’t be reviewing them on my blog. That doesn’t mean I’m dropping the series, ’cause I’m not. In fact, you can look forward to me finishing it up in a couple of weeks. This chapter centers around Esther the boring nun, and Ion, the vampire kid that you just want to smack upside the head a few times.
There is so much dialogue between the two of them that you just want to fall asleep, or get in the phone and start gossiping with your best friend, probably wondering when Ion and Esther are gonna get theirs. If the anime writers could have stuck with the action throughout, and left out some of the stale scenes between Esther and Ion, it would have been better, but you know how it is.
In this chapter, Esther spends so much time trying to take care of Ion, while he sobs as a result of the betrayal of his best friend, and the murder of his grandmother. Now the backstabbing of Radu in episodes 13 and 14 proves to be very entertaining, then everything goes downhill from there. Let’s just hope chapter 5 is better, okay? Now let’s get started……………..
You will notice that most of the screenshots are dark. Too bad, shit happens, so deal with it. No, I’m just kidding. The screenshots are dark because most of the episode takes place in some kind of underground passage where there’s a getaway boat. So it’s Radu, Ion and Esther……and remember, Abel fell off a cliff, so we’ll have to wait and see if he’ll be joining them later on.
Radu leaves them to prepare the boat….well that’s what he says, but we know he’s going to get a gun to blow Ion’s head off. But I thought they were childhood friends? Damn, you can’t trust anybody these days, not even the kid you grew up with. Why is Radu betraying Ion? I’m not sure, maybe it’s because Ion is a cute kid with big eyes, and everybody likes that. Radu is just some nobody trying to get by in life, and so he was kicked to the curb by the embassy, or something like that.
Hey, look who’s stil alive, it’s Abel Nightroad, yea! However, Radu draws a gun on him and fires. Why is everybody trying to kill my favorite crusnik? Then he turns the gun on Ion, but can’t get a shot off since the Inquisitorial Department intervenes.
So they go toe to toe, but it was too damn dark to get any really good screenshots of the fight, so just go watch the episode or just picture in your mind a vampire and a couple of soldiers trying to rip each others guts out. Radu unleashes his flame thrower attack, but it’s not good enough as he takes a fatal hit and falls into the water.
Ion is extremely devastated, but he’ll have to wait until this episode is over to see the vampire psychologist, since the Inquisitorial Team are gonna try to kill him next. But Nightroad isn’t gonna let that happen. That’s right, my favorite crusnik survived another attack, as he jumps in a boat with Ion and Esther, and takes off.
Only thing is, Petro is right on his heels, and he plans to get Ion since his mission is to kill all the vampires, or methuselahs, or whatever you call them. However, after enough begging from Abel, Petro grants permission for Ion to speak to the Cardinal. “Excuse me, but didn’t he have a chance to do that before? Look Petro, just kill him now, so I don’t have to watch him in the next 3 episodes, since he’s getting on my nerves.”
Next scene, Esther is tending to Ion’s wounds. Only thing is, it’s taking too damn long, and I have to listen to all this crap instead of watching some serious fighting. Where in the hell is Tres, my favorite gunslinger?
We’ll see him soon, along with Radu. That’s right, he’s still alive, and plans to get his revenge in episode 14.
