SPIRAL-THE CHOICE OF THE NONBELIEVER-EPISODE 7-3 STARS

spiral-episode-7-pic-1.jpg

In the last episode, Ryo blew herself up so that Ayumu wouldn’t find out that she was a Blade Child. Well, she really wasted her time, and a few ribs,’cause he finds out anyway. What a dumb move, but at least Ryo can give the hospital bill to Eyes Rutherford, I’m sure someone as successful as he would gladly pay it.

Ayumu (along with his stalker friend, Hiyono) visits Ryo in the hospital and try to bluff her out of a confession. While she admits to being a blade child, Ryo decides to raise the stakes by starting up another game that may cost someone their life.

Kosuke appears from out of nowhere with two glasses, and two packets of some crap. In one packet, there’s sugar. In the other one, is strychnine, an extremely bitter poison that can kill you immediately, especially if taken in high doses.

spiral-episode-7-pic-4.jpg

So let me get this straight, if Ryo takes the first drink, and she dies, she wins? But what if she doesn’t die, is Ayumu a coward for not drinking his? But there’s something fishy about this game. If Ayumu drinks first, and doesn’t die, Ryo will still win, by drinking hers, even though she may die. But the whole point is, Ayumu has to go through with it, or he’ll be labeled a coward, and will lose the game.

spiral-episode-7-pic-5.jpg

First, Ayumu comes to his senses, and says there’s no way he’ll play this stupid game. But then he puts two and two together, and decides to play. Besides, he can’t lose out to older brother Kyotaka, who’s probably buried 6 feet underground by now. Well, either that, or he ran off with a waitress or somethin’.

spiral-episode-7-pic-6.jpg

Ayumu decides to drink first, betting on the belief that Ryo won’t risk her life if there’s a 50/50 chance of dying. Now he may be right about that, but she did blow herself up with a bomb, so who knows what else she’s capable of doing. On the other hand, Ryo didn’t used a big enough bomb, so there is evidence that she was trying to preserve her life somewhat, and wouldn’t risk her it all in some “drink poison and die” game.

Ayumu also concluded that if one of them died, how would that be explained to the police? So now he’s got it all figured out, and starts to drink, but then……………

spiral-episode-7-pic-7.jpg

It has a bitter taste, can it really be strychnine? Ayumu freezes in his tracks before taking another sip, is this chick really willing to risk it all in order to beat Ayumu? Ryo finishes her drink, and is declared the winner. Some contest.

spiral-episode-7-pic-8.jpg

Somehow, this doesn’t sound right, and Hyono senses the same thing, as she picks up Ayumu’s drink and gulps it all down. “UH OH, SOMEBODY CALL A DOCTOR OR NURSE TO THAT ROOM RIGHT AWAY!” Wait a minute, she’s still alive? We find out that it’s nothing but bitter tasting water.

spiral-episode-7-pic-9.jpg

Hiyono puts Ryo in her place by telling her, hold on a second…………..”Ayumu, CAN YOU PLEASE GET OFF YOUR KNEES? THE GAME IS OVER!” Okay, now where was I? Hiyono treats Ryo by calling her the cowardly loser for rigging the game to save her own neck.

spiral-episode-7-pic-11.jpg

Just think about it, if she was willing to risk it all, why didn’t she use real poison? So Ayumu was correct in his analysis, he just wigged out in the end, but can you blame him? Ryo threatens Hiyono, but she’s got the whole thing on tape.

She’ll give them the tape in exchange for a fair rematch, but Kosuke tries to get it away from her. It gets thrown to Ayumu, but now Kosuke has Hiyono hanging out of a window, ready to push her ass out of it, so she can fall flat on her face, and hopefully die.

spiral-episode-7-pic-15.jpg

Hiyono tells Ayumu to flee with the tape, betting on the fact that the Blade Kids won’t hurt her as long as he’s holding on to it. So Ayumu splits, but what is Hiyono doing with a stun gun? You mean to tell me that she could have gotten away at any time?

So she allowed herself to get caught, okay I get it. This is the kind of motivation that Ayumu needs to get back on track and beat those Blade Brats. Well, Ryo is a brat, but Kosuke is kind of cool. What is Ayumu gonna do to get Hiyono back? I guess we’ll have to wait and see!
