MELANCHOLY OF HARUHI SUZUMIYA-REMOTE ISLAND SYNDROME PART 1-EPISODE 10-3 STARS

Okay, now this episode was actually pretty good, ’cause the SOS Brigade go on a retreat, and end up havin’ a good time, courtesy of Itsuki who has wealthy relatives that live on a mansion on a deserted island. As a reward, Haruhi promotes Itski to Deputy Chief, and Kyon is pissed off, but keeps it to himself.

All throughout this trip, Kyon remains suspicious of Itsuki, thinking that this is all some kind of setup for crazy stuff to happen, but I think he’s just jealous. You know, Kyon used to be my favorite Suzumiya character, but he’s really gettin’ on my nerves as of late.

He is way too cynical towards Haruhi, and Itsuki. Well, Haruhi I can understand, ’cause she is a bossy witch, but Kyon really shouldn’t hang around her if all he can do is complain about the things she does. However, I think I understand why he may have issues with Itski.

First of all Itsuki is way cuter, just look at this picture, and tell me who’s better lookin’ in swimming trunks. Another special quality about Itsuki is his esper powers, while Kyon is just some everyday sap that probably just hangs out with Haruhi to increase his image with the ladies.

Next, Itski is always in a good mood, you never see him angry or scared, while Kyon likes to over react, even though he’s far from being a Kyon type character like in Fruits Basket. Finally, Itsuki’s got the hookup, I mean, the kid knows rich people for Pete’s sake, and if it wasn’t for him, the SOS Brigade would have one boring summer vacation. Oh yeah, and another thing, Itsuki got other special skills, like steering a powerboat, just look at him go!

Oh yeah, look at Yuki, she’s havin’ a lot of fun too! So now they get to this mansion, and the fun continues with great food, fireworks, and swimming, “Okay, now I’m gettin’ jealous myself. Next day, a huge storm rolls in, and Haruhi gets a little pissed off, but realizes that being stranded on an island in a huge storm can brew a lot of mystery, and now the whole thing sounds exciting to her.

So the Brigade spend the whole day in the game room playing pool, cards, even a pillow fight here and there as the day winds down. All the sudden, strange things start happening. The master of the house isn’t answering the phone, and his brother can’t be found either.

The gang goes and knocks on the master’s door, but he’s not answering. They break the door down, and there he is DEAD, with a knife stuck in him. “Okay Itsuki, I know you’re behind this, and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next episode!”
