MUSHISHI-WHERE SEA MEETS MAN-EPISODE 8-3 STARS

This episode opens up with Ginko wearing this kick butt brown coat, I’ll have to ask him where he bought it from next time I see him. So he’s walking along, and he asks this guy Shiro, if the ferry will take him to the other side of the bay. This one question seems to open up a long discussion from Shiro about why he’s there.

Shiro explains that he lost his wife 2 1/2 years ago in a mysterious fog that occurred while they were out at sea. He also tells Ginko of snakes in the water, and immediately Ginko starts thinking “Mushi”, but he doesn’t want to jump to conclusions yet. So Shiro has been waiting all this time to see if his wife is gonna show up, so that they can sail off into the sunset.

Now Ginko (along with everyone else) thinks Shiro is a weirdo, and tells him that its stupid to be waiting 2 1/2 years for someone that was lost at sea. Okay, so he didn’t actually use the word stupid, Ginko isn’t like that, but I am! Stupid, stupid, stupid! Ginko tries to bring Shiro back down to earth, by letting him know that its obvious that she’s dead, or that if she did survive, she would have a new life by now.

But then he also realizes that it’s none of his business, then leaves. “Well Ginko, if you know you should have stayed out of it, then you should have kept your mouth shut, and kept on walking.” Later on, the two of them run into each other again, and Ginko says that he’s done a little research to find out that the snakes in the water were mushi, and they were the ones that caused the fog like haze on the day Shiro’s wife disappeared.

Now the fog has returned, so Ginko figures the mushi is back, so they both decide to go out to sea to check it out. “Okay, you two guys are crazy, you really don’t want to live anymore, supposed you don’t make it back?” Well, we know Ginko will survive, ’cause he has more episodes to appear in, but I don’t know about Shiro, we’ll just have to wait to see what happens.

So they’re now out to sea, and the mushi transforms into Shiro’s wife , but Ginko is not fooled, and he tries to get them out of there. Then the mushi goes through some kind of metamorphosis, and changes into something that looks like a huge centipede. “YUK! Unless you guys have a huge can of Raid, you better get out of there right now!

After the mushi sideshow, Ginko and Shiro return to shore, to find out that over a month has passed since they left. Hmmm, a mushi that can also toy with time, I guess I’m not surprised, since it can do everything else. Next day, Shiro’s wife’s boat and her belongings wash up on the shore, and he finally realizes that she’s never comin’ back. Oh well……….”Hey Shiro, can I have her makeup kit? I’m running low on mascara and eyeliner.”
