FRUITS BASKET-THE SOHMA CURSE-EPISODE 2-3 STARS

Now remember, in the last episode, the guys turned into animals as a result of some accidental grabbing. Tohru wigs out at this point, and Shigure is forced to tell her about the zodiac curse which turns them into animals when being hugged by the opposite sex, or when they’re under stress. The funny thing is, when they transform back (which they do right then and there), they’re naked, and Tohru turns away immediately!

“Don’t worry Tohru, they’re just a bunch of boys (except for Shigure), so I’m sure you’re not missing nothing. Now that the guys are back to normal, Kyo starts talking crap, and smashes a table. You know, Kyo can be a real jerk, but his psychotic behavior is great for TV.  First of all, he has a bad temper, and I think this is because he wasn’t accepted as a zodiac animal. Too bad, so sad, and who cares?

Next, he can’t stand Yuki, and I guess that makes sense, mice and cats don’t really get along anyway. Kyo really thinks he is hardcore, the way he comes smashing through the roof on his way to kick some Yuki ass, he thinks. Only thing is Yuki isn’t some weak fool, and he ends up beating the crap out of Kyo.

For example, when Tohru got hit in the forehead with the table that Kyo threw, Yuki slapped him, then gave him another beat down, and sent him flying through the yard. HA!HA!HA!HA!HA! That should keep him out of the house for a little while. Now that Tohru knows their secret, they talk about erasing her memory of that day, but then decide against it after Tohru promises not to tell, and Akito says its alright.

Yes, I know, we haven’t met Akito yet, but he’s the head of the family, and we’ll meet him soon in one of these episodes. A couple of scenes later, Tohru comes home and finds tons of dirty dishes in the sink, and garbage piled up a mile high. Yuki steps in and says that he will help if she just tells him what to do. “Yuki, what are you talkin’ about? You mean to tell me that you don’t know how to clean up after yourself? YOU AND SHIGURE ARE NOTHING BUT A COUPLE OF NASTY ASS SLOBS!”

Anyway, Tohru objects to any interference from him, and she gets to work. Before you know it, the kitchen is spotless, and she makes a nice lunch for them also. She even finds a rice cooker, which Yuki doesn’t even remember seeing. “No, I guess you wouldn’t remember seeing it Yuki, ’cause it was hidden underneath all that dirt!”

Shigure comes home (in a kick-ass suit), and then we find out that Mr. Hothead Kyo will be staying with them (Akito’s instructions), and going to school with Yuki and Tohru. Uh oh, Yuki isn’t gonna like this one bit, but that’s okay, he’ll just have someone to beat up on everyday, so I’m sure he won’t mind.

But of course Kyo is all pissed off, and takes that bad attitude to school with him. Next scene, all the girls crowd around Kyo’s desk, like he’s some movie star, but since doesn’t want to be there anyway, he tries to leave when this girl grabs him.

“You dumb girl! Do you want him to change into a cat, and scratch your eyes out?” Well, we don’t have to worry about anything, ’cause Kyo pulls a wrestling move on her, and as a result, everyone is freakin’ out now. In all the commotion, Kyo releases her, and jumps out the window, just like the cat that he is.
