ENTER: NARUTO UZUMAKI-2 1/2 STARS
Posted By Ria On 7. May 2008 @ 04:50 In Naruto vol 1-5 | No Comments
Naruto can be described as an irritating punk kid that likes to get into trouble. I won’t be too hard on him since he’s just 12 years old, but he will eventually age, unlike in most anime shows where the series can go on for years, and the characters never seem to get older. This series opens with Naruto acting like a bad ass brat, writing graffiti on sacred landmarks, when he should be studying his Clone Jutsu in order to graduate The Ninja Academy.
Now because Naruto was out fooling around, everyone in his class have to review the transformation Jutsu. Everyone does fine, then Naruto screws everything up by producing a sexy Jutsu, which is some naked chick surrounded by clouds. Naruto doesn’t seem to take anything seriously, and ends up failing his final exam, he was suppose to produce a Clone Jutsu (in other words, a duplicate Naruto), and he screws up, and produces a half dead lookin’ Naruto.
“Oh well Naruto, you got what you deserved. You were supposed to be studying, but instead spent your time destroying private property, and now you’re a complete flunk-out, good job!” But wait, the sneaky Mizuki has a plan, he gets Naruto to steal the sacred scroll of sealing, “Hey, don’t ask me what’s in it, I don’t have a clue, all I know is that it contains a bunch of secrets that can destroy the villagers’ entire way of life. In other words, its none of our damn business!”
Mizuki tells Naruto to steal the sacred scroll, and learn the techniques inside of it, so he can graduate, but he plans to kill Naruto, and keep the scrolls for himself. Iruka (Naruto’s sensei) goes after him, and then we get not one, but two sad stories of Iruka’s and Naruto’s past that I’m not really interested in.
Whatever, let me go over their issues real quick, there was this dangerous 9 tailed fox demon that killed a bunch of people, and in order to subdue it, the leader of Konohagakure (Iruka’s father) sacrificed his own life to seal the demon inside Naruto. Now that’s interesting, why would you seal some demon murderer inside of an infant? Because of this, no one wants to be around him, and this is the reason why he acts out.
“Hey, don’t I sound like a competent therapist? Maybe I should go back to college, and get my Master’s degree, don’t I show extreme potential?” Anyway, I’m wasting time, and I want to end this review, Mizuki’s intentions are finally revealed, and Naruto defeats him with this boring attack, The 9 Tail Jutsu (a whole bunch of Narutos running around, acting like fools), and as a result, Naruto graduates the Ninja Academy. “Well, that attack was boring, I wanted to see some skulls being crushed, throats being slashed, what the hell? Yes, I know Naruto is just a punk kid right now, let’s just hope in future episodes he becomes a more entertaining ninja.
