This is the last episode on this DVD, thank goodness, how long did it take me to get through it, 3 weeks? Well, let’s not waste time…………In the first scene we see Ginko trying to pawn off some of his goods to an old friend, Dr. Adashino. Now hopefully I spelled his name right, if not, too bad. Ginko has the horns from episode 3, you do remember that episode, right? Ginko also has the wine cup from episode 1.

Can you believe him, trying to push that crap off on somebody else? “Ginko, I told you to collect some money for your services, didn’t I? You didn’t even have to ask for much, there are plenty of tactics you can use to get money out of people if you don’t want to directly bill for the help that you provide. You can pass the hat, play the shell game, or offer to hold the door open for people at restaurants, and maybe they’ll tip you a buck or two.

But of course you don’t take my advice, so now you have to hit up a friend for money. Let’s just hope he gives you what you want.” It looks like Dr. Adashino is interested in buying these items, but Ginko asks for yet another favor. He tells of this mushi swamp that kept following him around while he was walking through the woods. See, this is why Ginko should have a bike, or a car, because who wants some nasty ass water hanging around with them wherever they go?

Anyway, we find out that the mushi swamp isn’t following Ginko, but is going out to sea, to die. But the swamp does have a companion, a girl, and since she doesn’t have a name, let’s just call her swamp chick. So Ginko runs into swamp chick, and she tells him that she’s hanging out with the swamp, because it saved her life one day when thought she was drowning.

This swamp somehow gave her the ability to breath underwater, and now she doesn’t want to leave it. Okay, this sounds like deep psychosis, ”Look swamp chick, I know your mom died, and you feel like you don’t have a friend in the world, but hanging out with a swamp, especially one that is about to die is not the way to go. I’ll flip through the yellow pages, and try to find you a good therapist, okay?”

So while Ginko is sleeping, swamp chick leaves with swamp, and then………..Hey, wait a minute, “Ginko, YOU’RE A COMPLETE WEIRDO FOR SLEEPING OUT IN THE WILDERNESS LIKE THAT. Who do you think you are, Bear from the show Man V.S. Wild?” Well, there are a lot of strange things that go on in these Mushishi episodes, so I shouldn’t have even asked that question. Anyway, swamp chick is gone, and now Ginko asks Dr. Adashino for help to try to save her from drowning when the swamp goes out to sea.“You know Ginko, I like you, but you really need to mind your own business.”

“Who told you to butt in, and try to save her life? She’s happy with the mushi swamp, and if they die together, it’ll be just like Romeo and Juliet. Are you jealous that she ran off with some crap water, and not with you?” Anyway, with the help of the villagers, swamp chick is rescued, and brings tons of fish with her. I think it was a present from her swamp lover before it died at sea.

You know Ginko is a really great character, but sometimes he overacts. For example, after swamp chick was rescued, and she opened her eyes, Ginko’s like, “YOU’RE AWAKE!” C’mon now, the girl is trying to rest, who wants some dude hovering over them, shouting stupid stuff, as soon as they wake up? You just have to see it yourself, Ginko is weird, but I got to give him 4 stars for fine performances in all 5 episodes.

As you see, the more dramatic the story, the more stars it gets.There will be more Mushishi to come, but not right away, so just sit back, and chill out. Next on the list, more Bleach, some Descendants of Darkness, and the Melancholy of Suzi Whatsherface, so stay tuned!
