Now I really like this series, but I’m going to let you in on a little secret………I’m not the biggest Ichigo fan. I even like Orihime better than Ichigo, yes, I know she’s stupid, but she’s stupid/funny, and that’s why I like watching her. Ichigo reminds me of Inuyasha, rebellious, pompous, and annoying, but I’ll give Ichigo extra points for actually wearing shoes, and having a decent place to live, but that’s it. Oh, and I really enjoy all the episodes where he’s getting the snot beat out of him by a hollow (evil spirits), or a captain.
Ichigo is just way too serious about stuff, yes, I know he’s supposed to be hard-core, but he needs to lighten up a bit. You know what it is, Ichigo needs a girlfriend to help him calm down, and to give him a personality. Now some of my friends think that he’s got the hots for Rukia, I hope not, ’cause she’s not all that either. And to all Rukia fans out there, let me just say that I hope you enjoy this episode, because it’s the only one where Rukia acts hardcore. She’s wearing a cool outfit, and knows how to kick a little hollow butt, but I was through with her after she lost her powers to Ichigo.
Maybe the reason why Ichigo acts like a jerk is because of his immature, and crazy father, man, what is that guy’s problem? And he runs a clinic? So is he a doctor, or is he just the administrator in the clinic, because that’s the last guy I’d want treating me if I had a broken leg, or a the flu, or something like that. In fact, I don’t believe Ichigo’s mom died at the hands of a hollow, I personally think she ran out in the middle of the street, and got hit by a bus, just so she wouldn’t have to deal with her husband anymore.
Whatever, anyway, the scene opens with Ichigo beating the crap out of these 4 punks, for messing with flowers that he placed at the scene of where this girl was killed. I know Ichigo has all this spirit energy, but he’s so damn skinny, how was he able to own those guys like that? The girl’s spirit thanks Ichigo, and moves on. “So Ichigo, you don’t think you’re kind of weird for being able to see spirits? Maybe you should check yourself into a psychiatric hospital, so that we can let Chad take over as the star of the show, wait I forgot, Chad see spirits further on in the series, so let me strike that.
Now, let’s skip a lot of mess, and get to the part where Rukia and Ichigo meet. Rukia steps into his room, Ichigo gets mad, kicks her in the butt, and starts talking crap. Well, Rukia gets tired of him, and lays a paralysis spell on him. “Good movie Rukia, but he’s still flapping his gums, can’t you do something to keep him from talking?” Then, Rukia sends a spirit to the Soul Society, but he doesn’t want to go. Rukia assures him that the Soul Society is a better place, and that his soul will be at peace.
“Spirit, don’t believe that mess Rukia is spitting out, let me tell you about the Soul Society. Its a lot like living here on Earth, you can wind up poor, and starve to death, so you might as well stay here. At least as a spirit you don’t have to worry about food or shelter, you can just float from mansion to mansion, and when you need someone to talk to, just find someone like Ichigo, and bug the hell out of him. Now if a hollow comes after you, don’t worry, just hang around Ichigo, and you’ll be all right.”
Anyway, Ichigo is strong enough to break the spell Rukia put on him, after a hollow breaks in his house and tortures his sisters. In order to stop the hollow from killing them, he decides to sacrifice himself to the hollow in order to save his sisters. Rukia gets in the way, and is wounded. “Rukia, you are such a weakling! First Ichigo is able to break your tired spell, and then you get owned by the hollow. Yeah, you better give Ichigo some of your powers, I’m sure he can do a better job at fighting than you.”
Now Rukia tells Ichigo to run her Zanpakuto (sword) into the center of his being, to absorb some of her powers, so he can defeat the hollow. “So in other words Ichigo, in order to save your family, you have to stab yourself with a sword, maybe you’ll live, and maybe not.” Now see, this is one of those tragic events where, if I was in his place, I’d think about it, shrug my shoulders, and just walk away. Well, I love my family and all, but if I had to stab myself with a sword with a 50% chance that I wouldn’t live to save them anyway, I’d think about it for a minute or two, and say, “Bye guys!” Hopefully none of my family is reading this right now, or they’d smack me up against a wall and disown me.
Well, its nice to know that Ichigo is stronger than I am, so he rams the sword inside himself (only in anime folks), becomes a Soul Reaper (which is what Rukia is). He takes all of Rukia’s power, but who cares, she didn’t use it wisely anyway. Anyway, Ichigo owns the hollow, and that’s the end of this episode!
